Biological treatment with bacteria
Billions of bacteria live on the gravel bed, breaking down organic pollution. They multiply naturally, so there is no need to replenish them.
These microorganisms break down proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and other organic compounds. This is a fundamental difference compared to conventional biological WWTPs, where you have to regularly purchase and replenish bacteria. In a constructed wetland wastewater treatment plant, the process runs continuously, 24 hours a day, without any intervention. The system works automatically and reliably all year round.
