Product description
The yellow iris is widespread throughout most of Europe, as well as the Caucasus, the Near East, and North Africa. It has been introduced to large parts of North America and to the south of South America (central Chile, central Argentina, Uruguay). Locally, it grows along the shores of water bodies, wetlands, etc., occurring scattered across the country outside mountainous regions. Quite common in warmer areas. The yellow iris thrives in wet and muddy places, banks of standing and gently flowing waters, ditches, and reed beds. It blooms from May to June.
The yellow iris is a perennial herb with a strong branched rhizome and sword-shaped leaves. The height of this iris ranges from 50 to 150 cm. It bears yellow flowers (rarely pale yellow to white), the outer petals are beardless with purple-brown markings. The inner three petals are upright. The fruit is a three-angled capsule.
